BYON DAY!!!!!!!! Next Class Period!!!!
Ellipses Outline
1. Go over questions on some of the homework problems
2. Take out HW to be checked by Coach
(While this is happening, students need to put circle pic on circle for +5)
3. Jesus Paid It All --> Testify Time (May push this to the middle of class
4. Begin by going through each of the definitions (put on formula sheet)
5. Go through what each are with an ellipse put on the floor
Use an example for foci
6. Teaching from on the floor with paper and students gathered around
a. hand out homework sheet
b. start with basic equation to graph
c. transformation equation
d. solve for the equation of an ellipse
7. Students will get a quiz and use their notes on the ellipse to be able to help them
8. Work on homework for the remaining time of class

Homework: Ellipse Worksheet
Due on Monday
Vocabulary Section
Major Axis -- a line that runs through the center and the foci (longest side of an ellipse)
Minor Axis -- a line that runs through the center
(smallest side of an ellipse)
Covertex -- endpoints of the minor axis
Vertex -- endpoints of the major axis
Foci -- a point having the property that the distances from any point on a curve to it and to a fixed line have a constant ratio for all points on the curve
End Points -- covertex and vertex together
Examples BElow:
